All you 90-93 Q45 owners should press the back button. This thread doesn't concern you. Just Kidding
I got tired of the center console lid/armrest squeaking since the 2 rubber bumpers mounted on the underside of the lid were missing when I bought my Q (2 years+). I went to the stealership a while back but was told I needed to buy the entire lid, at a cost of a couple hundred dollars, to get these two piss ant rubber plugs. After that I tried rubber squares used for cabinet doors but they didn't stick well and needed replacement every couple weeks.
I was at my local Ace Hardware last week looking for nylon bushings which were located just above a drawer of rubber bumpers. I bought a couple of the ones pictured below and they fit in the holes in the lid perfect. They are the exact diameter and thickness needed to close the lid and eliminate the wiggling and squeaking. Thank God I found these, I was getting tired of the wife complaining about the noise. At $1.05/ea it was a lot cheaper than buying her more jewelry.
If you're familar with Ace Hardware, most stores have a tremendous selection of metric nuts, bolts and about any fastener you can think of, including rubber bumpers. You can buy one of any item and don't have to buy a box of bolts when you only need one. I was down there a lot when I first bought my Q buying everything metric.
If anyone needs these and lives more than about 2 miles from the nearest Ace Hardware, it would be cheaper for me to send you a couple in the mail rather than you spending the gas to drive there to buy them. For $3.00 a pair ($2.10 + tax + postage stamp) I'll be happy to send them to you.
