It was 2006 when gossip of Nissan's coupe version of the highly successful Altima started cropping up. At the time, I was driving my first "non-Nissan" vehicle...a gas guzzling, unappealing SUV that was quite the lamentable driving experience. I was looking for something to reconnect me to Nissan and a better driving experience. When news of the Altima Coupe came around, I dismissed it. I had forgotten about it until I stumbled upon the new model at the New York International Auto Show in April 2007. Even then I wasn't sold.

In July I took a trip to my local dealer here in Connecticut to take a peak up close and go for a test drive. Well folks...the rest is history :chuckle:

After being a part of NICO's Altima Coupe forum for nearly 5 years and being the owner of both a 2008 and 2010, the car still makes me smile and this community still has me coming back every day.

If you were here in 2007 when the Altima Coupe forum just was getting on its feet, then you remember the makings of the largest and most comprehensive Altima Coupe forum around.

This place wouldn't be what it is today without all of you :dblthumb:

Post up some comments on your ownership of this car when you get a chance. Would love to hear what you have to say.

Here's to many more years of the Altima Coupe! :shifter:

I'm at almost 4.5 years with my 08 and have been a member since Feb. of 2008 I think. Just got the car paid off in Jan. 2012 and I plan on keeping it at least another 4 years if all goes well, I don't want another car payment during med school. The car has really low miles right now (26k) so if my driving style stays the same I'll be hitting 60k in another 4 years which would still be low for an 8 year old car lol. This car has been nearly perfect so far and I'm very meticulous with the upkeep. I have 2 BMWs as well and compared to them the altima is cake to maintain lmao

I remember the old days of us emailing companies for aftermarket parts and photoshopping body kits lol Overall this is a great forum and I'm glad I am part of the 1st gen altima coupe owners club :mike

I've only been here since I got my car in May 2010, but I've gotta say I love my coupe. Even after some bashing at first for getting an Altima, I don't regret my purchase (those same people are now complimenting me on my car :bigfu: ). Just turned over 20K miles after 2 years 1 day of ownership. Haven't had any problems with the car. Pretty much finished modding this car (got it for commuting) and looking to get a beater Z to fix up as a track car.

I've had mine for almost 3yrs. My first new car and not a day goes by I don't love driving it. I'm finally just getting started on doing some of my modifications, not getting rid of it any time soon, it's a keeper lol ;) !

I've had mine for just over 4 years and loving it every day! I've got ~65k on her now and am looking forward to putting more miles.

I love driving my car! Makes sitting in traffic everyday just a bit more bearable.

Our other car (his car) is a Jeep and when 2 years ago we went on a 17 day, 3400 mi road trip from MD through the Blue Ridge to South Carolina, Tampa, Key West, Daytona, and Myrtle Beach we took my coupe. We camped on the trip, we took a bunch of extra stuff just in case, we got extra stuff to bring home in Tampa. The small little trunk fit everything! Only things in the back seat were pillows and food. We could have done this in the Jeep but I loved being able to do it with the coupe.

I drove my AC off the lot on August 14th 2007 (yes I remember the exact day) with 24 miles on it. I was starting a new job the following Monday and and the 5.7L V8 Durango I was driving was not going to be nice on my pocket for the new commute. As a long time fan of the G35 I saw the AC in my price range and had to have it.

I took delivery on a lease with a nice buyout price, so I never really had any intention of purchasing or modding it, but the option was there if needed. Good thing I did because I ran into some mileage issues and a few other little bits that made the buyout the right thing to do. Started trolling here somewhere in late 2009, finally joined in January 2010, bought out the lease in March 2010, went bonkers in April 2010.

I have to say as my first Nissan Ive enjoyed every minute of it. Any issue Ive ever had with the car has been a result of my death defying accident back in 2008 or a defect which was highly documented by and repaired free of charge by Nissan. Im now at 65K miles and at this point I think I have to drive this thing into the ground. Way too much money invested to consider trading it in until its 100% paid off.

I also have to say that just about every mod Ive done to my car would not have gone as smoothly (or done at all) without the help of members here. Im also just about done modding but I feel like I keep coming back here because I need to share the wealth of knowldege Ive learned with teh noobs.

EDIT: I forgot about the peoples! Met so many awesome friends through this forum (see sig)! Marisha knows what Im talking about. I think Ill be attending Carlisle for the rest of my life, Nissan or not, modded or not, heck I dont care if Im able to drive...Ill be there. Its amazing how you can talk to people through the forum for months, even years, and then when you finally meet them its like WTF!

I loved the AC so much I bought three of them (LOL! but that is dumb - should have ordered a 6MT from the start).

The AC brought me all the way into NICO and now look where I am. Fun times. Can't wait to see what Nissan has up their sleeves for the next one.

Aug 23 2007 15:43 is when I joined Nico, just shy of 5 years and over 10,000 posts later im still whipping the coupe thru the autocross.
Since then I have:
Attended SEMA
Been to a NICO wedding (couple met on forums)
Introduced several sets of roommates
Attended 5 Years at Carlisle and paid over $7,500 to the Park Inn! (and over $1000 in Easton!)
Gone through 4 sets of wheels and 3 types of lugs
And met some of the best friends someone could ask for along the way...

Bought mine in Sept of 08. Started of as my "daily driver" but that didn't last long..lol Met a bunch of awesome guys and girls here and if it weren't for the AC, I would have never known what "full contact connect four" was... That game will never be the same for me again. I wouldn't doubt if someone pulled that game out to play, I'd shriek like a little girl and find the nearest corner to ball up into and rock myself to calm down!...

Like SHIFT_COUPE I first saw the Altima coupe as a prototype at the AJC International auto show in Atlanta. I remember telling the Nissan representative that “they had got it right”. All the body lines flowed so well.
When I went to but a new car I really thought I was going to get an Accord coupe, but the Altima won out. I got my car in April of 2009. I bought the car as my daily driver and it has done well at that. I get an average of 28 MPG. The car is quick and handles well. My car now has a little over 60000 miles and has given me no trouble.
I have never left any car I ever had stock, I have always changed something about them. The Alt coupe was the first car I have had in a long time that had any aftermarket support. It has been fun changing the car to look better and handle better. I look forward to the other things I want to do to it.
I think the Altima coupe and Altima coupe people are special.

I'm still a relatively new owner of my coupe. After buying it, the mod bug crawled up my a** and never came out. Didn't know where to turn to...so I google searched "Altima coupe mods" and BLAM, just like that I made an account on here. I didn't know much about modding cars, came from a 94' accord with almost 200,000miles on it. So I asked around and met some very cool people. I thought I read somewhere that the nicoclub forum was losing if not lost its "homeliness feel" but I begged a differ. Hussain and mmx23z helped me out when I needed it. Saved me hundreds of dollars in installation charges. Thanks guys! All thanks to this great forum. On top of that, I've seen members help other members, don't think I've seen a post with 0 replies for more than 2 days...Such a large pool of knowledge here. Plus, all the great cars! Keep up the coolness guys! :mike

p.s. The O.G's also helped me a lot. You guys seem to know everything about this little rocket lol. :dblthumb:
