I have CEL and I need to clear it to pass smog. I can't seem to get ride of it. The mechanic said it was my knock sensor, I replaced that and it didn't clear. My friend said the fact that I did not have a Crank Position Sensor would cause a CEL, I replaced that, did not clear.

The OBDII reader at my sponsors shop will not read the ecu for some reason. Is there another way to check it without a code reader?

Also, my back up lights are on in every gear but 5th, and my rev cuts at 5k if thats any kind of a clue to whats going on?

I tried searching but got nothing but unrelated stuff.

BTW Its an OBDII KA S14, and the CEL came on when I changed my clutch.

You could always try taking it to a parts store and having it scanned or taking it to Nissan. Also, if you disconnect your battery for about an hour it should reset the ECU and temporaily clean the code.
