Just a quick question... I ran to my local auto part store and they plugged their computer in and found out that my CEL was caused by the o2 sensor. I replaced it and then unplugged the battery for about a minute and then plugged it back in. The CEL is still there. Took it back to the auto parts store and now the computer wont even read...

Is there another process for resetting the computer?

Thanks guys!

There is no set computer reset procedure (similar to Jeeps from the 90s). Most likely you popped a fuse somehow, for either the DLC or ECM.

Check the ones under the hood first.

Hmm... only found that the interior light fuse was popped. So there is no hard reset for the ecu? Hrm.. how do you clear codes then once you have fixed the problem?

Somewhere in the area of EC-740 should give you some of the information you are looking for the manual reset. Shutting the light off with a computer is far easier thought.

The interior light circuit might have something to do with the power supply to the DLC connector under the dash.

I just noticed that the manual says there are 2 o2 sensors. That could be the reason... I only replaced the front one.

The error codes are specific to each bank of O2 sensors. Exactly what error code did you get? Basic OBD-II scanners are cheap and allow you reset the MIL as well as read codes from *almost* any 96+ vehicle (there are always exception). I believe it's a must have for any DIY mech.

A quick read of the FSM says the MIL will go out on it's own if the condition has been fixed after 3 driving cycles. You can read the passages to see how long that may take.

The computer is showing a catalytic converter code. I took this as 02 sensor... I hope that I don't have to put a brand new cat on this thing... Any other ideas?
