i made a mistake...I cleaned my throttle body and forgot to plug the throttle body back in before i started the car...seconds after the car being on i realized what i did, turned it off and plugged it back in...now the CEL light wont go away, i did some research but all i came up with was that if you forget to plug the MAF and turn the car back on, it should go away after about 100 miles....well i drove my car about that and it still hasnt gone away...anyone have any ideas?

go to an advanced auto parts or autozone and let them put the computer thing on it. It will tell you what it is and then you can clear it from the machine!

The best part is its FREE

How long did you disconnect the battery for? Maybe you reconnected it to soon.

Try doing the rest of the reset procedures.

Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning

Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)

After you do those, then do the ECU reset and see if all is well. Should take about 5-7 mins for all 3.

The computer will tell you what the problem is! and then if it is something stupid erase the code. If the problem continues the light will come back on and then you need to worry.

IF you were messing with things under the hood that could cause it to go off and then if you fixed the issue the light would still stay on!

Erase<drive<worry about if it comes back!

I had a similar issue the last time I replaced my air filter. I started the car and forgot to plug the sensor back in. The CEL light came on. I spoke to the service department at the dealer & they told me it would go out by itself within a few hundred miles. It did after around 100mi. If nothing is wrong each time you start your car the ECU runs a series of tests. If it continues to pass all tests it will turn the CEL light off. Thats what they told me. If yours fails to go off you may still have a problem?

I had a light on after I changed exhausts... it's now gone, but I changed my plugs since,... if you purchased used, you should change your plugs right away anyhow.

Try sentient's advice, reset all and then report back, or get autozone to clear em' but... they'll likely come back without the ECU re-learning the idle speed etc.

I'm SentientByDesign...of course it will work... ...Oh sorry, forgot I wasn't in my own little dream land lol.

Based on your report of the higher Idle, I'm thinking your throttle is tweaked and needs to be slapped around a little like a used hooker

But! Since you have the reset as an option, you might want to try that first
