My service light came on yesterday after playing around with my radar detector and rear view mirror. Tried the quick reset to no avail. I'll leave the battery disconnected and see where we go from there.

Lets assume it cam on for something other than me playing around, where would i get the codes read?

Local autoparts store can read your codes.
