ok so my check engine light is flashing on my s14 obd1 240sx.

i know this means a misfire but i havnt noticed a misfire except around idle and only after i start to move. if i just start it and let it sit it doesnt do anything.and now its starting to hesitate when i try to accelerate. so what could this mean?

i was thinkin maybe the distributor but im not positive some help would be very appreciated.

you have a miss under load?

if so you need to do a tune up and see where that gets you, plugs, wires, cap, and rotor.

and if you have close to or over 100k

I don't know if you have fixed this yet, but a obd1 ecu does not flash for a miss fire. If the light is flashing it may be in diagnostic mode. Can you count the flashes? If you can they are codes stored in the computer. If not try unhooking the battery to clear codes and see if the light still flashes. Check the basic things first. Vacuum leaks, plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Check them first! Don't replace them unless it needs them. Test drive then check for codes. Diagnose the codes.

nah i havnt fixed it yet. i cant figure it out. i pulled the codes from my ecu and it gave me a code 55. i replaced sparkplugs, wires, cap, and rotor. and its does the same thing. I got a book on it and it said that code 55 is a no malfunction code so im stumped. i was thinking something in the fuel line but idk.

When you pulled the plugs out, what did they look like? You could have a vacuum leak. This will cause a miss a idle. Spray some brake cleaner around the intake manifold to check. If you can get a smoke machine you can smoke the intake system and watch for leaks. The next thing I would look at is the injectors. They may be dirty, or one could be going bad. Let it idle for a few minutes then check plugs. If one is cleaner than the others start there. While you have the plugs out do a compression check. Low compression on a cylinder means a problem.

well yeah when i pulled the wires the number 4 wire looked a little chard like. i dont think its a vaccum leak because it isnt a constant thing. it'll only mess up every once in a while so i think its the injector's or something along those lines but its like 4 degrees outside so i cant check it. and no i didnt do a compression check.

this is what it does http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjwtnaeXTgA
