Only a week after solving my emission test issue by replacing a split plenum vacuum hose and then enjoying smoother idling and fater acceleration, this morning I encountered a new problem.

When I started this morning the idle was very lumpy but seemed to clear after warming up. At a constant speed of 45 - 55 mph to engine seems to be missing a beat somehow as it feels slightly jerky.

Tonight on the way home the CEL came on and the acceleration seems less than smooth.

I suspect it might be an injector as the symtoms are similar to a few months ago when one of my injector failed.

Do they tend to fail in succession possibly?

I think you conjecture will prove correct.. do you have a multimeter that you can check the resistance of your injectors.....?? Might help determine which one is bad, and if some are on their way out...

If its under the plenum, personally id replace the 4 that are under the plenum.. thats a lot of money though...

My injector failures on "Q1" happened fairly close together. I replaced one bad one, only to have another failure within two weeks. Then I replaced the other seven (all with remans). Then after a leak-down problem - I replace all 8 six months later with OEM. Expensive - yes, pain in the arse - yes, but I haven't had to touch the injectors since. Just an occasional injector flush and can of BG44K.

Started it this morning and the damn thing is all right again. No CEL and runs smooth as butter. I hope this ain't going to be one of those PITA intermittent deals.

I do have a cheapo multimeter Wes, is the test easy to do?

The test is simple I have a writeup on Q45.org, check itout, its called INJECTOR OHMING or something of similar nomenclature....

I bet that if an injector is intermittant, it would show up as just borderline bad... Should be 10-14 ohms

Is your multimeter digital? If youd like, i can guideyou thorugh the process over the phone. 765-621-8336, but the article is pretty self obvious...
