I've been getting an intermittent CEL recently and I don't own a laptop or a CONSULT module, so I'm forced to do some disassembly and count the blinky lights to read codes. Beofre I go to the trouble of getting at the ECU, I want to be sure the code is actually being stored in the ECU.

WIll there be a code stored in the ECU even if the CEL isn't lit? I only get the CEL intermittently and it always goes away when the car is shut off and turned back on.

*EDIT
Maybe this would have been better in the Infiniti Online Mechanic Section. I guess that decision is up to the mods now.

Yes the code should be stored.. My guess is its going to be either an EGR code or an injector leak code (I believe code 32 or 45 if memory serves)
