97 S14, 5 speed swap using Auto ECU and auto lower wiring harness
I have heard that if your engine has a CEL, even if you get the actual light on the dash to go away, the ECU still prevents itself from running a self-test, and thus you will not pass emmisions when you get your car inspected.
I have heard that you can wire your CEL into your airbag wiring or put a resistor in the CEL circuit to keep it from lighting up. I just want my car to pass inspection after the 5 speed swap.
So should I: A)Find a way to rewire my transmission so the CEL goes offB)Wire the CEL to go off and hope the ECU can still do a self testC)Use a 5 speed ECU and wiring harness (I already have a spare 5 speed harness - just need the ECU)D)Take it to a mechanic and play stupid
