Ceiling console removal help

Hey just got an EX35. I'm trying to install a radar detector. I understand that it could be connected to the rear-view mirror, but I prefer to wire it to the sun roof.

This is what I found in the factory manual,


but I'm still having trouble. I keep sticking flat things under and prying at it, but it's not working and just scratching up the console. Has anyone done this?

I might cross post this a few places to try to get some help soon.

I wired my V1 to the rear view mirror and it could not have been easier. It works perfectly, the wire is almost completely hidden. I have it mounted to the rear view. Why do you need to go through the sunroof console.

Because I want to clip the detector to the passenger side visor, where it will be out of the way and less visible. The wire is also less visible this way.
