I'm considering both of these to mount in the front door of my s13 240 (with adaptor plates,) and I'd like to know what you guys think sounds better, and if anyone has the mounting depths for both sets, it would be great, I couldn't ifind them online (probably looking in the wrong places.) Thanks!

sound domain has specs on the CDTs, i forget what they are, but theyre deep. Though I've read that you can remove the dust cover on the magnet and reduce the depth significantly. I don't even know that thats a concern for you, I'm pretty sure there are people on this board w/ them installed in 240s.

mounting depth? what's that  :pface i dont' think you'll have a problem with the mounting depth of the cdt's in a 240... i think a few people on this board have installed them in their 240's and never mentioned anything about mounting depth, so should be good to go... CDT's all the way! :D

actually maybe i shouldn't say that, i don't want them to become too played out... but everybody around here is all about the Focals teamed up with Audison amps, and have no idea what CDT is, so i think i'm still being original ;)

lol fair enough, so you really do like the sound of the CDTs? Hmms well any suggestions on rear speakers to match front components? I'm running an Adire Audio 12 inch shiva in the back in a 3 cube box off a jbl 600.1 bridged to 300 watts. The sub is amazing sound quality without being overpowering, and I want similar sound quality for the mids and highs =)

my 2 cents...

Kappas are tried and true... a proven speaker

CDTs... There arent any dealers around here, but I hear that they are the jam. ayjay likes em... he knows whats up.

I own the Kappa Perfect 6.1 component system. I find that the tweeter is a little bright for my taste. For my next set of components I am considering CDT as I understand that the CDT tweeter is a little smoother. I enjoy a little more subdued high frequency response.

If it was me, I would say CDT, but you cannot go wrong either way.

I had the CDT 61's in my Vette and they sounded awsome. http://www.thezeb.com has them for $149. I would recommend them.

i have the Cl-61s in my s13 and when the window is rolled all the way down it rubs a little bit on the back of the speaker. I think I used 1/4" MDF for my adaptor plates. If you use something a little thicker you shouldn't have any problems. Just make sure your adaptor plates don't get in the way of the door panels. I would also recommend these speakers, they are great.

Well do you think 1/2" mdf would cover it?

only thing is the thicker you get the closer the speaker is gonna be to the door panel/speaker grill, try 1/2" and it that doesn't work go with 1/4", but it sounds like it'll be pretty tight according to TurboTuli...
