cd player won't work

the cd player in my 03 M45 just stopped working/ when i took the cd holder out the glove box and put it back in it made a wierd noise fo about 6 sec and it wont play at all. i press the cd button on the dash and nothing.I dont know what i should try to do other than take it to get checked.....any sugesstions???
