The CD player on my 97Q displays read error, anyone has experience fixing similar problem? or where I can find info to repair it myself? The casset and FM/AM works fine.

do i really have to get a new stereo?

Thanks for any input.

You can try a reset by disconnecting the battery overnight, or a clean-er CD, but more than likely it's given up the ghost at this point .

Watch ebay for your cheapest/easiest replacement, pretty much any 97-01 (excluding non-standard DIN shaped Maximanuits) Nissan/Infiniti Bose CD head unit should swap right in. They usually go for about $125 give or take.

Had the same problem on my 94' Q. As mentioned earlier, the problem is often a bad solenoid in the head unit which can be reset by removing and then reconnecting the battery cable. Not knowing this, I purchased a new CD deck from Joe which sits in a box unused. I would be happy to sell it to you at a good price. My solution, which I highly recommend, is to forget about the CD and put in an I-pod connector. There is lots of information on this site about doing this. It is a very cost effective way to go.

What CD player to you have for sale (single in dash or changer)?

Yes, the iPod adapter is a good option and qsiguy was making ones that used Aux In on the stock Q Bose HU.

I have the Sony 5 disc that goes in the trunk along with bracket. They no longer make the original 10 disc.

I will let it go for $140. Original cost was about $225.
