New to the forum and my first posting so pardon me if this has been discussed before. I'm having issues with the CD player in my 03 Maxima. I've got the factory Bose 6-disc changer in it. When its cold outside or when the A/C is running, my CDs skip. When the car warms up, its fine but very annoying when trying to head to work in the morning and the CD keeps skipping. Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this?

Unfortunately, this is a common problem with our Bose players. I, too, am having the same issues. The best remody is to get an aftermarket CD player or find a used Bose player on ebay if you want to keep your car looking stock. No one has succssfully fixed their skipping issues on their own (if Im not mistaken).

You should know that although it says Bose in nice big letters on the tape deck cover, it's really made by Clarion, so don't go thinking you're downgrading in quality if you replace it with something else. If you've got some money to spend and want to spend the little extra to add navigation to your car, the Pioneer AVIC-D3 player rocks. The speakers are truly Bose speakers, but the stock stereo does not use them the way they were meant to be used. You'd be amazed by how much better the sound quality is with a newer stereo and your same Bose speakers.

This is the AVIC-D3...

Thanks for the info. I've got a portable GPS so don't need the navigation. I'd thought about swapping out the head unit but I'd like to keep the steering wheel controls if at all possible. I've gotten so used to using them I reach for them even when not in my car. Is there anyway to hook an aftermarket head unit up to the steering wheel controls?

Pioneer and Kenwood players are both really good about compatibility with steering wheel controls, although you'll probably have to purchase a seperate car-specific module to make them work. Both companies offer modules for nearly every car with optional steering wheel controls.

Thanks, but at that price I'd be better off getting a brand new/better aftermarket unit. I also wouldn't want to be left with no stereo, and a void in my dash for a month while it was getting fixed.
