90 240sx, Sr20DETOlder Alpine HU2 pioneer 6x9's in the back and I'm assuming 2 pioneer door speakers.

Problem: My speakers all of a sudden started playing the music like it was on the radio. Static on nearly all bass notes. So I turned my bass ALL the way down (no sub). Still no fix. The owner before me did a semi clean job, but I still want to redo it. Any things that are popping out to anyone? I still am kinda lost. It seems anytime that I want to turn the music up above 15, it starts hitting static notes. And it's not even pushing the speakers outside their limits, I could go to atleast 30 tell it would start damaging the speakers. If you need any more information please ask, I don't know what other info would assist in this fix. Thanks

Sounds like blown speakers. If you can get to them, push the cones in and out and see if the feel rough. If they do, all there is to do is replace them.

Try switching on the head unit to only the rear right or just fronts speakers and see if you hear anything? Keep testing one by one and see if you get any more static... Does it do it when the engine is turned off?
