I just recently purchased a 2006 M45 from the original owner, my brother. Compared to my previous ride, a Honda CRV, this is a new world. My problem is the 6 CD changer, which my brother had told me did not work. I removed the unit (using this forum How To's) and removed the 3 stuck CD's. I have re-connected but it still is not working properly. It energizes, shows 6 disc icons on the navigation screen, however they are all "greyed out", none is highlighted as being active. The screen says "Please eject disc" then changes to "No Disc" when I press eject button as it makes ejection noise. The screen then returns to "Please eject disc". Load button does nothing but emit 3 quick "beeps". It will not allow loading or switching between discs, which are all "greyed out". So I purchased an identical recycled CD unit on ebay and installed. It does the exact same thing as my original. Makes me suspicious that it might be a wiring/harness/logic issue vs. the actual unit. Not sure if there might be a switch/contact that makes the CD unable to load except in park which perhaps could be malfunctioning? Anyone aware of that? Am I grasping at straws? Considering sending away my original CD to "Short Circuit Repair" but wanted advice as to whether this might be a lost cause, especially if the problem is not the unit, but some wiring issue. Thanks for any advice.

I used to have an 07 M with the 6-changer. My system would allow me to insert and remove discs in any gear. In fact it's hardest to remove and insert while in P. Since you have swapped the changer and got the same results, I also suspect it's some sort of wiring or settings issue rather than the player itself. Perhaps there is a "re-learn" procedure similar to the ECU re-learn, etc.
I hate to suggest this as I know it will NOT be cheap, but perhaps the service dept at your nearest Infiniti dealer has the cure, or at least can confirm which is the culprit - the changer or the car.

Larz, appreciate the input. Good to know that there is no park lockout feature. I went to dealer initially and was told replacement would be about $1k, thus my interest in trying to fix. But now your suggestion of perhaps having them run diagnostics to confirm what the culprit is, would be a good course of action. I could then decide whether to have them fix or go to "Short Circuit". Given the awesome Surround sound 5.1 system (with CenterPoint processing), I was eager to get the 6 CD changer working. Thanks.
