i bought a Sony XPlod CDX-M600 (first problem) and after about a year (something like that) my cd player started to go. at first it would read something like 3 of my cd's, some burnt some regular. then it dropped to 2 (both bought cd's). then just one cd. now it doesnt play that one. anyone have any idea whats wrong with it? everything else works. it sucks!

Try blasting it with a compressed air can, thoroughly clean your CDs, after that I'd say your SOL seeing as the player is past it's warranty period.

Hah, hope you're kidding, some kid might actually do that. My JVC unit plays like a champ and has been through four car transplants.

Yeah, on the VERY technical side it's likely that the laser is either out of alignment or dirty. If you really want to you can try to open the player and clean the little eye, use one of those electronic-safe cloths that don't conduct static.

Here's how it goes:The laser IS dirty- this is because in a cars enviroment it is humid- the humidity settles on the laser making it damp- this then picks up the dust in the air and it clogs the lens- try cleeaning it w/ a cleaning disc- if this doesnt work than something else in the unit was damaged- probibly also caused by the humidty.

Ive had my sony m-620 for over a year now and it works flawlessly, I am very happy with it. Everyone who rides in my car thinks the dual displays are really cool. I hope i dont have any problems with it
