Well, this weekend, we went up to the lakes for labor day (kinda sucked, it rained most of yesterday and today)..... So anyway, before I left, I undid the battery cables (mainly to delete the trouble codes out of the ECU), and then when I came back, plugged everything back in, and went to play my favorite song, and the player wont play.......

I can eject the magazine fine, and I can select the CD via the radio on the dash, but it wont play..... it sits there for about 2mins, and then goes to the next CD.... it goes through all 6 cds, and then at the end displays ERR........ I pulled all the fuses audio related, just to see if it would reset itself (it worked for my cruise control......)..... I even unplugged the battery again...... no go....... It doesnt seem to make any funny noises, just the usual shuffling noise it makes.......

So, what do you think..........

Wes - Sounds like how mine started (after as battery replacement).

Search "CD changer" for more info... It has been a long, drawn-out hassle. Hopefully the shop it's at can fix it cheap.

The Clarion 6 disc was the common replacement for the Sony 10 disc. The Sony unit had problems, and they're almost impossible to find in working condition. Mine's in a Sony-authorized repair shop right now, and I'm dreading the repair bill... If it's over $100 I'll pay the $15 diagnostic fee and buy a new changer and have the wiring harness modified or something...

Try unplugging yours and reattaching the cord after 10 inutes. Also, remove the cartridge and swap out all the CD's - Believe it or not, sometimes that helps...

Hey, Greg, I saw your bid on eBay for the Sony. What happened? I lost touch with eBay over the weekend. My PC dosen't seem to like the advanced search, anymore.

My bid lasted all of 10 minutes. That damn thing went for over $100.

Forget that!

Send a message to the buyer through eBay, to join NICO. Then , he might not outbid you on the next Q45 part. I have been doing it. I don't know if it has worked, but it is worth the shot.

I am really close to buying a late model Bose system with the 6 disc changer. The only thing I need is $

Good idea - I'd love to know who the two people are that keep kicking my arse on Q parts (amesdude and palladin101)...

I don't think they're NICO folks but they've outbid me on a ton of syuff. :(

After years of sitting there with no relative motion between the mated pins of a connector, corrision occurs and the resistance of the conection gets too high for the circuit to function. Most all connectors are designed to clean themselves each mating cycle. Any time a connector disconnect/reconnect fixes a problem the most likely cause was corrison in the contacts. The tin plated contacts go out quicker than gold, and light gold plating doesn't last as long as a heavy gold plating (20 um vs 40 um say). Another problem is undsized contacts in power circuits, Chrysler seems especially bad about this in the 3 of their vehicles I've owned.

With automobile electrical problems, connector contacts are always my first point of attack, unplug/replug. Then try other things. Low voltage circuits are the most sensitive.

I've been adding di-electric grease to everything I unplug under the hood and car. Sounds like you've put a lot of thought into these connectors... does this sound like a good plan?

If you look at many electrical connectors for other makes, the replacements often come with the grease pre-applied. Just don't over do it. Replaced something (can't remember what) on another of my vehicles and the connector came with lubricant to apply. Many outside bulbs I've replaced have grease on the base as it leaves the factory.
