Trying to figure out a few odds and ends with a new 2001 QX4. Most things that the qx4 has in common with the pathfinder are easy to research but things that are limited to just the qx4 can be a little more challenging to find info on. My 2001 infiniti qx4 has the navigation system (i need to find a mca2 disc) with the Bose tape deck under it. However it also has a CLARION 6 CD CHANGER CV737 mounted in the cargo area on the right side. It looks like it is a stock set up. It does not seem as if I am getting power to it. Won't eject or do anything. The plug looks good on the cd changer end. Where should I start trouble shooting this? Does it plug in directly to the deck?

The one that was in there when we bought it seemed pretty dirty and dusty so i replaced it with the same exact stock clarion unit (ebay) pluged in great but still no power. It won't even eject the cd cartridge... Help.

I would start with checking fuses. Also download the FSM: http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/infini ... nuals.html

I did go through and check the fuses. Everything seemed to be in order there. I should of mentioned that before.

I had download the service manual. Great that you guys have those up! A really great resource! Thats actually how I found this forum to begin with. My qx4 is a new ride for my girlfriend to drive. She needed something that had 4x4 for her longer comute during winter now. It is the first import ive ever owned. I have extensive experience on most domestics. So far its been treating me alright :)

I thought I would update everyone on this job of mine. I had checked all fuses and knew those were good so I set about to see what was going on behind the bose unit itself. I found it strange that I could not find any wiring diagram on the service manual that included a rear cd changer. Upon getting behind the bose unit I found what looks to be a Y connector that was not plugged in and figured it had to be part of the issue.
Here is what I saw
Image

This image is after I reconnected things... When I first opened it up the connector (red circle) was plugged directly into the back up the bose unit in the port shown by the blue circle.

The whole Y connector shown by the green circle was not be used. Not sure why some one would of unplugged it or messed with it.

Sure enough after reconnecting these wires as shown in the pictures the cd changer sprang to life and the bose unit would now go into cd mode and play cd's perfectly.

However a question still remains.... On that Y connector shown by green circle in first picture there were 2 plugs that I could not figure out what they would be used for. I could not find a place that they would plug in anywhere. They are shown in the picture below indicated by the purple boxes. Any idea what these connectors are for?

I still have no idea what they are for. Everything is working that should be. My guess is that Infiniti uses the same wiring harnesses for qx4 with navigation as well as the models without navigation. Therefore they are wired up for both and in each case some plugs are not used. In the case for our qx4's with navigation these must be the plugs not used.

The two plugs in question are for heated seats. Just below the sound system you will have Knock out in the trim plate for the switches. Under each seat protruding out of the carpet you will find unused plugs that would plug into the underside of the seat pan if the heated seats were installed -- hope that answered your question

Except the heated seats all work currently with out those being used... And that does not match up to the wiring diagram according to the factory service manual
