AZHitman, I am bidding on a Sony CD Changer. If I get it, and it works, I'll send you my old one, for parts.

Depending on the bid price, of course.:)

I bought the thing, for $9.99, and $15.00 shipping. It came in, tonight. I put it in the car, and it seems to be working fine.:pface

I had to swap the little plastic trim piece around the cassette, that has the eject button on it. The other one was missing. With a delicate hand, I acomplished this without breaking anything.:ylsuper

I would like to do a test for a few days, before I ship my old one to you.

Of course, you know, this means you have to give me a smokin' deal on a used 2003 M45, on September 1, 2005... (My 39th birthday);)

Anything for an Alabama brotha!

$25 for a replacement changer? Damn. I'm jealous...

Greg, The replacement is working fine. Do you want my old one?

It works fine, except something is causing light scratches on the edges of the CD (It makes the last song or 2 skip, eventually). This might be fixed, easily, but I did not want to take it apart, any more than I did.

I had to rob the plastic trim piece, where the eject button is, since the one was missing on the replacement CD Changer.

I want to keep the extra cartridge. It's always nice to have 2.

I thought that you needed the laser out of it.

email me with your address.

Later,

Jeff ....if you get to the point of throwing it away....I would be interested in any springs.... the only reason mine won't work is the little spring that loads the disc broke....can't find one to save my life....

I'll send the whole unit to Greg, then he can get his part, then he can send it to you.

I don't really want to try to take it apart again, and I might loose or break the part you need.

Well, my "cheap replacement" CD changer gave me the "CD err" message.

When I investigated, disc 6 is in the "play" position. I hit he eject button, and it ejected the cassette, but left disc 6 in the player.

It looks like I will have to do some disassembly.

Anybody have this happen, before?

Oh no...

That sucks bud.

I still haven't taken the "sacrificial" changer to the shop to transplant the laser...

Yes, it does suck. I am optimistic. It happened after an extremely cold night, down in the 20's. (At lease extremely cold, as far as Alabama goes).

I think it is just a one-time problem. Once I get the other disc out of the player, it will work fine.

Let me know how your swap turns out.
