I have a 1994 Q45 with the factory 10 disk Sony CD changer that will not work. There is an outfit on the west coast that will repair it for $150. It's sounds like a reasonable amount, but I was wondering if anyone has replaced this changer with an aftermarket one. I've seen some advertised as low as $200, but am not certain it would fit. Obviously, I do not want to do a lot of work to replace it and would prefer finding a model that fits right in the existing shroud, bracket and electrical connector. By the way, the CD is showing an "err" code. It has done this before and by disconnecting the battery and waiting 30 seconds or so, the code disappears and the unit works fine. Not this time.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would suggest changing the cd changer and getting an aftermarket one. Sony is notorious for breaking. Lasers break and its a whole mess. I suggest getting something else but I don't know if it would fit into your existing system. Do you have an aftermarket radio? But a cd changer is not a big deal to install anyways. So yeah get a new cd changer. Thats my suggestion.

I have the standard Q45 system: A Bose stereo cassette and AM/FM system, with a Nissan/Sonty 10 cd changer in the trunck. All controls are operated from within the car, through the existing stereo. When it worked, it was terrfic. Any further help would be appreciated. Thx.
