so a few months ago i decided to do plasti diped eye lids and to get a gloss look i put gloss over it because i didnt know there was a plasti dip glossifier :bang , anyway i got some carbon fiber wrap and decided to do eyelids with that instead

taking off the plasidip was close to impossible, i used paint thinner on it since it wasnt near the paint of my car which made it tons easier to take off but still about a 15 min hand job to get them off

just some helpful advice since i know there has been alot of talk lately about using it as a primer for tint

when you did this, how many coats of plastidip did you use before you put on the clear coat?

I actually did the opposite. When I was smoking my tails, I sprayed the plasti dip clear coat on first, THEN sprayed the smoke. That way I can remove it if I get tired of it. Kind wish I waited for the plasti dip smoke spray.

I removed plasti dip from my stock rims and it was a two day 10 to 15 hour job This was with a whole can of dip per wheel at about four coats!!!!!

Damnnn bro?!?! I peeled off half of the plastidip on my one of my wheels because I tore it on accident with that OEM wheel lugnut bar. Took me 5 minutes to peel half of it off. Did you clean your wheels with alcohol before you dipped them?

Yeah i did!! I cleaned them with alcohol and the car had like 1000 miles at that point so the wheels were spotless. I peeled for about 30-45 mins per wheel, then pressure washed for about 15 mins per wheel and then took out a wire brush to remove the overspray from the inner wheel parts. This time coupled with raising the car and removing/installing one wheel at a time led to a longggg job! I even was sunburnt from it lol

Speaking of plastidip...how many cans do I need to cover the stock 2.5 wheels?

well you can do it in three but you may not have thick enough coats to be peelable later on. However if you read my post like three posts ago you'll see that this didnt work for me at all! I would STRONGLY recommend taping off any part of the wheel that is behind the face of the wheel. Overspray is terrible when removing!!!
