I've heard a few people having a problem with the sr where they spun a bearing. I read that the common cause of this is oil starvation. is that true? how exactly can you spin the bearing out and what causes it to happen? it seems like oil starvation would be easily avoided but a spun bearing sounds like a common problem with the sr. How can I prevent it from happening?

thanks guys

1. Change oil often2. Run high quality oil and a high quality filter3. Get a new enlarged / baffled oil pan

to be honest, i have yet to hear of someone spinning a bearing on an SR that was taken care of and not flogged 24/7.

Oil starvation is the leading cause of spun bearings, but contaminants that get under the bearings (say during a rebuild) can cause issues like that. If you spin a bearing, expect to replace the crank, and the rod that was spun.

most of the time when i hung around the fwd sr20 crowd the spun bearing issues were usually caused by lack of checking the oil level. Which is not the motors fault, but user error.
