I have a 2007 M45 with 200K. Ever since I bought the car back in August of 2015, it had the dreaded "brake-and-shake," which means that the steering wheel would shake back and forth when I applied the brakes, especially when applying them lightly from about 60MPH. I feel stupid and lazy now that I found the solution to the problem. I was busy saving for new tires, so I just never got around to looking for the issue. Anyway, I got new tires last month and still had the issue so I rented a tool from Autozone to do a run-out on the front rotors. I only had .002 inches of runout, which is in spec, so the rotors were not warped. While checking the caliper slide pins, I noticed the bottom slide pins on both sides were sticky and binding. When I pulled them, I saw that they had a little rubber sleeve on them. The previous owner or whomever did the latest brake-job, must have lubricated the slides with a type of grease that caused the rubber sleeves to expand. I removed the sleeves completely and cleaned/greased/re-installed the front brakes and voila! No more shake and brake. I have a set of new slides on order, but I think the sleeves are just for noise reduction. I did not take a picture of the sleeves, but you can see them in the pic below from another member on here.
So, if you have "brake-and-shake," check out those slide pins.
