the timing chain mustve jumped when it was still tryin to turn after that piston ceased.... it was off by about 6 teeth, and the metal bracket that covers the chain was snapped. the head is in good shape, surprisingly. we werent the ones to do the damage, the car was bought 'as is' for the project.

Here's Trulson test-fitting the motor to figure out how much we'll have to move back the fire wall.

Might that be a 396Big Block? Ive got one sitting on the bench waiting for its truck to come back. If it is a 396 good luck fitting that in there.

The engine is a cracked small block chev, just one i had sitting around, with some heads and intake bolted on so i could start fitting the engine and designing the mounts.

So once you have the mounts and fit designed.... what IS going to be dropped in there?

Have you seen Aries' setup? (I assume so)

Man... you guys remind me of all my old buddies back home... toss a Chevy V8 in anything you can cram it into!!! I love it.... I wanna come visit!!!

The plan is to drop in the old 350 from my camaro after it receives the 383 i'm putting together. I was gonna go the automatic trans route, but have decided to use a 4 speed, cause shiftin is half the fun

Just an introduction, i am the guy in the photo above, i salvaged a straight body (very smoked engine)240 from the back row of a local dealer for 300 bones. the car is in fairly poor condition, so i'm just having fun with it

Well... it sounds like you're going to have a shat load of fun with that 240. Just a warning... be VERY cautious with the frail unibody construction. It really isn't designed to take the kind of torque and stress that your 350 can give it (yes I know.... it's ONLY a 350 :D .... but still).

Keep us posted... I like seeing stuff like this!

BTW.... an auto transmission with a Herst shifter can be just as much fun as a 4-speed manny-transmission!

This is better than Monster Garage!

No ****...I was just thinking the same thing. There are no girls that like cars in general around here...let alone get their hands dirty pulling an engine.

Tino - aren't you late for your date at the truck stop?
