my car throw a code because I didn't plug in the second o2 sensor, I got rid of my Cat long time ago, so now I want to add one of those" o2 " simulator. what exactly does it do ? can I just add a resistor , what other method to keep the MIL come on . I also got rid of the EGR stuff.. there's a temp probe to it? can I also add a resistor to that? bascially I'm trying to keep the MIL from turning on to pass the inspection (OBDII ).

As far as I understand the oxygen sensors generate a pulsed signal. On the 240 ('96 at least) it also senses the resistance or current draw from the Emissions circuit. Just adding a resistor will not be enough to stop from throwing a code.

You need to leave the rear oxygen sensor wired in place to generate the proper current draw but cut the signal wire. Tie it up somewhere it wont damage anything from its heat or leave it in the down-pipe if you still have it. The simulator will need to be wired in parrallel with the oxygen sensor for its own power and ground and the signal lead will generate the pulse that the sensor should see.Caint help ya on the EGR stuff til I figure it out for myself.

For the EGR:

Hopefully you still have the solenoids for the EGR system...they need to be plugged in...just remove the vacuum lines, and tuck them under your intake manifold.

Then add a (IIRC) 10k ohm, 1/4 watt resistor in place of the temp sensor...check the spec on that, it's been a while since I posted it.
