Hey,I've done a little searching but didn't find much - I was wondering what sort of power increase on the MR18DE I could expect with a catback exhaust and an intake kit. I've found dyno charts for stock vs intake but nothing with the both.

Anyone able to shed some light?

Ryan

considering there is no catbacks out yet no one has any results. some peeps on the forums are working on having a shop make one for them as i know but dont know how that is going along.

I've seen IMPUL catbacks available over here but they're pretty expensive. It's not TOO expensive to get one made up at an exhaust shop over here, so I was thinking of getting one done, but I want to be sure the extra noise is worth some extra power. If it's only a 2hp gain I won't bother :D

HONDUUHHHHH...VTAK...2.5" cat-back with NO TORQUE.

Honestly, you might see 5-7hp on a full-catback. The sound might be worth it if you get it done right.

IMO, the sound is never really worth it. Everytime I hear that sound I cry because my ears bleed. =(

The last thing I want is some honDuh style vtec fart can noise!!! I want subtle and quiet with more power. I'll have to speak to my exhaust guy and see how I go

Rims first though!!

well here's another question someone may know, as I'm a lazy s.o.b. and haven't worked up the energy to get under the car with a ruler yet - what's the standard exhaust piping size??? 1.75"?? 2"???

2" outside diameter.

If you cut out the resonator and put a straight pipe in it's place, the sound comes down to the style muffler you choose. Different companies have different sounds.

I have a custom catback 2.25 it sounds great. On the freeway i get a drone inside of the car, it is pretty loud. I put the silencer on for road trips and you cannot tell the difference from stock... power is worth it. it has better flow and sounds deep not ricey $100 well spent, or wasted depends on who you are.

Have you looked under since they did it? How good does the quality look? How about the bends, welds?

What do you mean by silencer? or by 'drone'? When do you hear it and when don't you?

I met up with fastlyfe while i was in Phoenix yesterday and it really does sound good. It has a deep, almost Altima SE-R sound to it. Good job.

A silencer is an inline muffler. Goes between the catalytic converter and the muffler that you actually see. Helps in reducing noise.

Drone is when you are cruising along steadily at whatever speed and you hear the exhaust note. It never changes in pitch or tone. It's can be very very annoying. It's often a topic of debate with exhausts.

Some people just want the sound of a performance exhaust. Often the new setups will cause droning. Some do not care because their car now sounds fast when ever they hit the throttle hard. Other want the performance gains but not the noise. The silencer may help, but some will complain that a silencer, even a striaght through with no baffles, will be too restrictive and cause a loss of HP from the gains made of the performance exhaust setup.
