My emissions test is coming up and I need a new cat. Any ideas on which brands to avoid? I did a search and it seems like cheap ones rattle alot.

I use a RaceConcepts direct-pass made for a Maxima. Passed Ohio emissions last week, and it flows better than any other cat I've ever seen.

I bought one from an import supply store by my house. It was the same generic cat I was going to order from Pep Boys but I could get it next day. I passed MD emissions with it. Now I just have to take it back off and put my test pipe back in.

Anyone running without a cat is just plain irresponsible. With a direct-pass cat there is no performance benefit in using a test pipe and you at least catalyze most of the nasties.

I agree with NISMOingen. Do the air a favor and keep a high flow cat in your ride.
