Catalytic Converter

Hay guys I just need some advice on catalytic converters. I have a 1998 240sx with hotshot headers and greddy mx exhaust and other mods. I am thinking of replacing my cat with a high flow cat or a test pipe. Will I lose HP or gain HP. I heard that 240 run better with back pressure. So I don't know if thats true or not, if it is then i guess that should get a stock cat again. I wouldn't even bother with this if it wasn't for that my cat is broken and rattling. So if anyone could give me advice i would greatfully appreciate it. thanks in advance.

what on your cat is broken and rattling? if its the rock stuff in the center just pull the cat off and dump the trash out, knock a bit more out just to make sure it dosent fall off later. Take off the heat shields if they are rattling too.

You know S14's have the cat in the header right? If you get aftermarket headers, you lose the cat. The "cat" you have is actually a dummy cat.

I thought s14 had two catalytic converters, one in the header collector and one in the exhaust piping

the one in the exhaust piping is fake... empty... hollow

i think the canadian s14's have real cats there too.. for what reason, i don't know.

no thats only true for some of the s14's. not all s14's have the dummy cat. they have the one in the header and one right after that one.

Any S14 in California or in Arizona have 2 Cats.....Everywhere else the second one is a "dummy cat"
