catalytic converter sounds baddd

i have a 95 240sx my catalytic converter sounds really bad but i dont know what is the problem it sounds like a piece of metal stuck inside my exhaust beneath the driver side can someone tell me how to fix this problem =D

probably a heat shield rattling about. time to go under and take a gander

is it hard to get to the heatshield and do i need to replace if it still make that noise =)

Dude, just jack the car up no more than a half a foot, peek underneath, and see if you can rattle the metal shroud around the exhaust. If it rattles, obviously you want to take it off. This is common on older and worn 240's. No, you don't have to replace it. Just don't park on extremely dry grass. Some mentioned before they can feel the heat from the exhaust on the floor board after taking it off, but that's it. I personally never noticed it and would much rather have a warm floorboard than a loud *** rattle coming from underneath my car.

Even better just remove the CAT all together, problem solved! Emissions are for p*ssies anyway!
