I own a 1990 TT 5spd and the exhaust was rusted out, so i bought a new one on ebay. I Tried removing the old exhaust and all but one bolts broke off. Now im thinking - should i remove the cats, because if the bolts break its not gonna be pretty. Any ideas on what to do? Is there an easy way to remove them and put the new ones on? I posted this question on VG and VE section, but no help rom there, thanks for any input.

If they're that bad, you might consider just replacing the cats.

If not, just drill out the broken bolts and replace with new bolts.

no need to remove the engine

like greg said, if they break, just drill them out and use new nuts and bolts
