Hi guys i'm new to this post but I have the same problem as some of you may. I'm throwing a Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) code and I need to emissiom my car asap. I've been riding dirty out here in AZ and the cops really hate on the expired tags thing out here. i read on here that MY k&n high flow air filter my be the cause or it could be the cheap gas. i just want to know what worked for you. Someone on here said to add octane booster so i'm going to try that but let me know if there are any other methods or suggestions. Thanks guys!

Welcome to NICO!

Replace the O2 sensor behind the Catalytic converter. Pick up a bottle of Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner, that never hurts.

Please don't post the same thread all over the place. One thread is more than enough.

I have the same issue, trouble code P0420. I read on another forum that the pre catalytic converter needed to be replaced. I am trying to confirm that this is correct and that the right engine bank, or bank 1, is toward the front of the car. I don't want to replace the wrong pre cat.Did you ever get a satisfactory answer or have the work done? I have emissions testing looming as well and want to do it right the first time.I am also interested in knowing if this can be done by a DIY machanic with regular tools.

You still have the 3.0 in yours if I remember correctly. If so, it's more than likely the front tube assembly and not the pre-cat.
