I own a '92 vert.

I have recently moved to a new residence. This residence has an open garage that I share. By "open garage" I mean a structure with a roof that is enclosed on 3 sides--kinda like a garage with no door.

I also have a 3-month-old new top. I like the fact that my top is now outta the weather some of the time.

Yesterday, I noticed cat footprints on my trunk lid and top. I figure this is just the neighborhood kitties checking out my car.

My FEAR is that soon enough, same kitties might start using my new top as a scratching post/claw sharpener. Anyone on this forum have any ideas for what I can use as kitty repellant?

mix arsenic and kitty litter together. Or use a shotgun.

j/k

Get a car cover that you can slip on and off easily.

Water gun filled with ammonia works too (if you can catch the little bastards)

I've got the same **** going so I'm trading some extra 4 lug rims I had for a bushmaster 2000 paintball gun. I warned the neighbors to keep em inside, now they are gonna get painted.

The cats like the 'vert tops because they are dark colored (black) and make a warm place to sit/sleep. I doubt they'll use it as a scratching post. Just keep an eye out and watch what they do.

My neighbor's cat sleeps on my 'vert's top. I am replacing the top next month, and as long as he doesn't use the claws...I have no problem with him sleeping up there. Just leaves a little bit of fur that leaves once you drive the car.

Just FYI: a paintball gun will probably kill a cat. Not to mention the lovely paint splattered all over your car.
