Hey, Will I gain any HP if I remove my Cat? some places said I will loose HP... Some places have said I will gain about 5hp... (btw don't actually need a Cat because we don't have emisions where I live..) I was reading a FAQ and a guy from PDM racing said take it off.. you will gain HP... then the next guy said leave it on... you will loose HP and torque... ?!?!?! what's the truth!

You do not gain massive amounts of power from removing your converter. Even if you don't need one, I still would run atleast a high-flow. Don't mean to get all EPA on you, but just because you don't need one doesn't mean you can go blowin' your gases all over the place, lol.

Removing it will reduce backpressure, which is always a good thing. You may pick up like 1 hp maybe? Not anything you will notice though. Might make more sense if you are turbo'd and there is a lot more air coming through, but taking it off a mostly stock car isn't going to make a difference. Not putting one back on will save you about $100 if you need to replace it though. Get rid of the resonator. That chokes it up more than the converter.

Im tired...sorry if Im rambling.

Get rid of the resonator... you crazy? I don't want to sound like one of those crappy little civics that sound like it's doing 100mph when it's going 15... The way I have it setup now i'm running a 2.5 down to the stock resonator.. I think my cat might be going bad so I figured I would get rid of it and I really don't feel like paying $100 for a new one.. anyway the ocasional shot of flame out the tailpipe at night is cool... lol

Im running the DC header, Catco converter, 2.25" tubing with a Tanabe Tuner Medallion muffler with no resonator and it sounds nothing like a Civic. In fact, a couple people have told me it sounds more like a v6. I've also been told it sounds like a WRX too. Soo the resonator won't give you a ricey sound, but it will choke your system up.

I had to remove my exhaust system. My turbo decided to melt my cat. Also think so much heat was caused it ruined the seals...Running open DP and yes it's loud and I have to go to neutral and coast everytime i see a cop to diguise myself. But when your on the throttle it sounds good but it's loud as hell. But remember I'm turboed... I'm part of the no emission club

running with a cat is actually worse for the environment than running without one, especially if your car is in good tune. Cats aren't magic, they react things together, which means you get something else as the result, oft times it's a bunch of rather nasty chemicals such as nitric acid.
