Whats up everyone...I kinda got a problem but I think I should start with the engine mods so that all of you get an idea of what to work with... Here are the engine mods.

96 Blacktop S13 SR20DET

GReddy 3" DPGReddy Type-S BOVGReddy S13 2row FMIC

HKS filter

ACT 6Puck ClutchS13 LSD

STOCK P.O.S EXHAUST....

Anyways, before I bought the car, the previous owner DID NOT have an engine in it..

After the install, the car runs GREAT....and strong..it has some problem starting up sometimes but its because of the dirty FUEL FILTER. But other than that, it boosts great....The problem is, when I drive heavily, the cat starts to smoke when I come to a stop and it smells horrible. I'm sure the cat is probably dead considering its an 89. But the weird thing is it also leaks a greenish fluid substance. And there are't any green fluids in the motor at all. What can be causing this? The car still runs great, but it smokes heavily from the cat after a hard drive. Is the cat deaD? Should I just replace it with a TEST-PIPE? How will it sound with the stock exhaust system if I have the TEST-PIPE? and mainly, what is the greenish fluid dripping from the cat? The car has absolutely NO green fluid in te engine...

ThankS

-Albert

You mean your coolant isnt green? The cat shouldnt have any fluids in it at all unless youve got crazy oil leaks into the turbo and out the exhaust system. The car with a test pipe and a stock exhaust isnt really all that loud. Its about half the sound that an aftermarket exhaust makes. My setup at this moment is a Redtop with 3in downpipe, Dummycat (almost the same as a test pipe, and stock exhaust. It sounds almost like a normal car just louder mostly because of the downpipe i presume. If you were to add a test pipe and aftermarket exhaust your car would most likely be louder than hell and illegal.

So I dont know why its leaking like that. Also, the turbo is fine....If it werent for the cat, the car would run absolutely perfect. It still does right now but it just stinks a little and starts to burn after a hard drive. I'm thinking about going to a junk yard and picking up a used cat or trade my other re-inforcement bar for one...since I have 2 bars and I dont need one...I'm hoping that will do the trick...

You could always take to a mechanic that specializes in japanese cars, or any car for that matter and see if they can spot anything.

You live in Cali where it is illegal, I live in WA where they dont really care as far as my research has shown, though if my car were made after the engine i'd be breaking the law.

Ugh, Speed, you're still breaking the law. =P

Its a FEDERAL law, it doesn't matter what your state happens to do with emissions, it doesn't even matter if your state does emissions, its still illegal. Its not illegal because of emissions, its illegal because its not a USDM market engine, nor does it have a USDM market equivalent, which makes it illegal because it does not have EPA and DOT certification. The only reason people care if its emissions legal or not is because thats the only way to get caught. I hope you read this, if you have any questions, let me know, but it IS illegal no matter where you are and no matter what you do for emissions. It just doesn't matter if people don't check. : )

Enjoy your day!

Honostly i'm just way too lazy to go reading the federal regulations, those books are probably 20lbs each and full of useless crap. I got kinda tired after reading just WA's little DOL and Emissions laws. Oh well, viva no visual inspections!!!!
