I am thinking about getting a cat-back exhaust for my 350z, but I wanted to know if the added horse-power would be noticeable if I installed one. Also, would the increased exhaust note be too loud at Highway speeds? What brand or type is recommended?

I highly recommend the BRM Racing exhaust. I'm biased though, I already have one, although I have a Sentra SE-R, not a 350Z. Who knows, maybe the head dude at BRM hangs out here....

With mine, there is some increased noise over stock, but nothing too ridiculous unless I stomp on the gas, which I like to do under bridges....hehehe I do, however, have the longest resonator that they could fit on it. I'd recommend getting them.

don't think you'll feel a noticeable HP gain in the way the car pull..You're adrenline might pump harder, giving you the impression you're going faster (kinda like driving in low gearing..)The drone right now stock in my Z is pretty high at highway... I can imagine it much louder with the exhaust... if you do a lot of highway driving it might be a bother to u or ur occupant.. but if ur an enthusiast u might just enjoy it all the time too.. gluck

The HP increase in any cat back system is minimal and you will not feel a 6 HP difference (torque is more important). What you do get is appearance pluses and a throaty sound when accellerating. At highway speeds the sound is minimal over OEM. I am extremely happy with the Stillen true dual system.

Check my post on 12-18 regarding the Nismo cat back. Has pictures also.

I was at the Stillen showroom in Costa Mesa yesterday and looked at their dual system. Extremely well made as is the Nismo but it is a true dual from the cats back.

Good luck with you choice.
