Though i post this in gen chat. Buddy of mine stopped by a dealer the other day and some one had dropped off a s13 for the cash for clunkers program. It had 300zx brakes , Kyb-gr2s, welded diff, and it ether had a ka24de swap are someone just put on a pignose bumper ( didn't really look hard he brought it by my work i was busy) and was pretty damn clean. As far as i know they are suppose to destroy the motors and send them to the junk yard. He picked it up for 800 bucks. So i suggest if anyone is looking for another project for cheap check your local dealers and see if someone was stupid enough to drop something sweet off.

I didn't know 240's qualified for the cash for clunkers program as they get more than the maximum combined MPG's is 18..... DE's get 22 combined and E's get 20 combined....

it wouldent be a cash for clunkers if it was sold by the dealership. its illegal to sell them after they have been traded in on the program. they can however strip them down and sell the aftermarket/upgraded stuff.

it had to of been just a trade in. like drjuice said, 240's don't qualify, and if it were traded in as a clunker, the dealer couldn't legally sell it to anyone else.

that's what i was told, i immediately said that because it just talked to a friend friday about the program and he works at a dealer ship and say it's fun to wreck the stuff that comes in. They drain all the fluid and rev the piss out of it and technically the program doesn't exist yet most dealerships are giving vouchers for the cash for clunkers program

Ninja edit it didn't start until july 27 only 2 are 3 weeks ago

Thanks god your friend saved it before it got trashed...

I literally had a nightmare that kept me up all night the other day that early 350z's ended up on the Cash for Clunkers list because of their oil burning issues... In my dream, I was all like, "Save the VQ's!"

Not joking.

wow I've never gotten that low of mileage even with an auto convertible. Always 24 or so in town and 30+ on highway. God that sucks people can turn them in. I guess if you have a rusted nasty 240 all beat up it's ok.

According to the website, the 1990 240sx gets 18 city and 24 hwy. For the C4C rebate, it needs to be 18 mpg combined...not city.

even if s13s can qualify for cash for clunkers, i don't think the one the op mentioned was a cash for clucnkers car cuz they can't legally resell it, its gotta have water run through the engine and the body parted out

i've done a few clunkers at my dealer. Drain the oil, fill with a quart of the clear syrupy toxic fluid the government gives you and then start it up drive it out of the shop and rev it up til she siezes.

We have gotten about 2 or 3 cars that were traded in as clunkers and now we were given permission from the government to resell them as used cars.
