a little white out on the 15 degree btdc and on the pully timing mark make things alot easier. Otherwise a timing light connected to cylinder 1 is what you need with the car warmed up. In general the cas should be sitting around the middle of it's range of motion, if it's to far one way or the other it's generally a sign of the timing belt being off even if the car reads 15 btdc

There is a grove/slot on CAS shaft this fits into the pulley on the exhaust cam that your timing belt goes on. If the engine is timed properly the CAS will be generally in the right place. Fire it up and put a timing light on it and set the timing. Do you have a FSM? If not the sticky at the top of this page will have the info for setting timing.

**** DON'T PUT YOU HAND IN THE FAN WHEN SETTING THE TIMING!!!!
