I am trying to chase down a problem with my q.I am getting nothing out of my cam angle sensor to the ecu.Am I right in believing this output would be about a 5 volt ac signal?

output voltage [SIGNAL] depends on engine speed!!!!! Did you mean input [base] voltage?

No,I know that I have 12vdc in,I was trying to read the output signal to tell if the cas is bad I understand that it will change with rpm but I do not know if its output is ac or dc I am using an analog meter so I can see the fast change or pulse but I am not sure what range I need to be on.I hope that makes sense.I know that cars are dc but some sensors produce ac signals.

Here is the way to check the CAS, this is for a 94... If you have a 90-93 it may be sligtly different (as youd have to probe the sub cas harness for the 90 degree signal and the main cas harness for 1 degree signal)

Long story short, its in AC, 100mV. The CAS singal for 90-93 and 94-96 is the same, but the harness is different.

The only problems seen with CAS are from dirt..........some of the slots [360] might get blocked thus drop outs.

Use a digital storage oscilloscope to view all the VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV_____VVVVVVVVVVVVVV______VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV..............360 pulses per rpm
