These failures are common and as long you use a used unit, there's a big chance that it's possibly the CAS. I've seen problems with the haltec sensing nissan's crank angle sensors before, but then again I've seen have the same issues with Toyota as well. I would try one more CAS and then possibly switch to another trigger. Or better yet, totally check the harness's integrity to make sure nothing has been breeched. Hope this helps......CA19DET wrote:when we first put together my engine the Crank Angle Sensor was fualty, i dont know if its because the haltech is sooo sensitive to ignition/timing signals that it was showing an error (cause it was working before) but it looks like i have another CAS failing on me...
the car revs under no load, but when it reached about 5000rpm or so the tach starts jumping all over the place...
under laod it does the same thing, but from about 3000rpm it backfires and doesn't rev... timing is all over the place... i am afraid of detonation so i am letting my tuner look at it.
thats one thing that sux about Stand alone EM, i can't do a diagnostics test to see if it is the CAS..
i pulled the plugs and they are all covered in soot/carbon showing that it is running rich .. no leaks in the interooler pipes...
cause the way the tach is reacting i think it is the CAS.. bloody thing
Anyone else have problems with CAS?? Boost_Boy i know you have allot of experience with CAS and Stand alones on CA's, any probs in the past??
