Well I put my timing belt on and did it to the"T".. dot of oil pump with crank dot..cams lined up with the cover in the back..and then I even counted cam belt ribs to 28 from exhaust dot to intake dot (came out perfect). For some reason its not running right though..I have to advance it all the way and Im still not advanced enough to make it run right it.Seem like I need to advance it more but its as far as it can go. Im thinking it was off a tooth when it was tuned and they change the IGN map with the AEM EMS. Any help is really appreciated.

First things first, You need to verify base timing.

Do this by locking the timing in the AEM (Configure-->ECU Setup-->Set Ignition") and using a timing light to verify that the timing in the AEM matches the timing at the motor. Also remember that when you check the timing YOU SHOULD NOT USE THE BLACK TIMING LOOP! Instead unbolt coil #1 and use a plug wire between the coil and the plug and then use your inductive timing light around that wire.

Once the timing is verified correctly. Then check to make sure that your ignition map looks reasonable and the AEM isn't commanding too much or too little timing. Do that by verifying the ignition timing parameter in the AEM. I'd be curious to see what your timing map looks like.

Also how do you know its not running right? Like it almost dies when it idles or its slow or what?

It will rev and pop..and it wont stay idling it will die after letting off(If I retard it it wont run at all). Can you pm me your email. Ill take a log and send it to you..Im fixing to try to figure the AEM out and do what you said. Im seriously a noob when it comes to this EMS..I had to have it tuned because I couldnt even make it start with a basemap.Ill have to go buy some plug wires and make sure this timing light I have works...Ill try to have to all done within the next few days,but Im going to try to figure out how to take a SS of the map now.

Do you have your base map saved from before you went into the wizard? If so just send that calibration back to the ECU.

Also what exactly is your setup? Rb26, what injectors? Speed density or still using the mafs?

Even with the stock CAS, it will still run without popping and dying. Specially at idle, he wouldn't notice any difference.

No I dont have cal file that is was running on, the guy that tuned my car is in brazil on vacation and Im not sure if he still has it either. Its the OEM CAS wheel..my specs are built rb26,no porting on head stock size valves, tomei type b poncams 1000cc RC injectors, AEM 3.5 bar map sensor, PT67776R HPS turbo. Not sure why it wont start...unless Im way off on the timing(multiple teeth) Which is not likely I had all the marks lined up plus the marks on my Greddy timing belt were lined up as well. If you need any other specs just let me know..I was trying to find a similar setup as mine and maybe try that cal file.Thanks again for the help..any possible solutions let me know I check this thread every time I get on the computer.

If you want to undo the changes you made with that wizard do the following:

Goto: Setup --> Sensors--> Cam/Crank Sensor --> Cam/Crank Input Setup --> Options - Cam/Crank Input Setup
When the window opens: CHECK "Crank Falling Edge" and UNCheck "Crank Rising Edge"

Goto: Ignition --> <<Advanced Ign>> --> Ignition Phasing --> Options - Ign Phasing
When the window opens up make the value for "Pickup Delay Comp" 0

Assuming that all you did was run the wizard for the Cam/Crank sensor signal then that will return it back to what the base map has.

Try to start it. If it starts do what I said and make sure the ignition timing parameter in the AEM matches what you see with your timing light.

If you want you can email me your calibration at [email protected]

First of all Thanks so much for the help.These AEM EMS's are very time consuming and complicated. Alpha tuned my car..heres a short vid..my car looked like crap. I just finished wet sanding and buffing it..gotta have my version select 1 kit painted now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yGFobQn-GQ

How much did alpha charge?

Once you get accustom to the aem it's very quick and simple.

Timing(belt) was off the first time it was tuned and they made up with IGN timing and now that I got my engine running again it wouldnt run(because it was right). Im going to do some more pulls on e85 or motorsport 109 and turn the boost up a little more. Alpha is VERY good at what he does and takes pride in his work.(check the power curve..its perfect) He charged $350 plus $50 a hr for dyno time. Ya I would like to get a little more used to it...but everytime I touch it I mess it up haha.This time on 93 and a little bit of yr old gas I made 538whp at 20psi..before when it was messed up I made 598whp on c16 at 26psi.
