Here's a quick explanation...

Dish soap removes wax and grease...it will take off any protective wax/polish on you car. Use it to "start from scratch" to get the car clean and ready for polish.

I recommend Zaino!

I just use plain water and a sponge to wash off any dirt or birds$it After washing with water I just wipe down & dry off the entire car with a towel

I wouldn't recommend that as it can scratch the paint. Car washing liquid has chemicals that pull dirt away and lubricate the sponge. You wouldn't take a shower with only water would you? Also, make sure you use 100% cotton white towels to help reduce scratches.

Telcoman, let me guess, soap money goes into your 401K?

Another vote here for Zaino products.

Mr. Clean AutoDry gets my vote and recommendation! Don't have to worry about scratches from towels, it really does dry spotless on its own. I've washed all my cars with that since 2004, never will I go back to drying. I can take the time saved to clean up and get ready to wax.
