toki h2o: i give up on carstoki h2o: put on oil restrictor: car smokes more, oil drips out of fittings, more smoke everywheretoki h2o: remove restrictor which is supposed to prevent smoketoki h2o: less smoke everywheretoki h2o: its amazing how **** DOESNT work out

My car starts to smoke at idle for some reason, it crosed my mind my un resticed -3 feed line may be the reason why, even though i've got a nice massive -12 return line. But anyways, I got them a few days ago, noticed oil has been leaking from the fitting in to the turbo, figure it might be backing up or something.

So I put the restrictor on, and not only does the car smoke MORE at idle, but it won't snug up so it drips right onto the center section and manifold, causing nice little plooms of smoke.

Somewhere during all this I pulled a "Brian" and forgot to tighten a feed fitting all the way and sprayed maybe half a cup of oil around my engine bay. That was hot.

So I take the restrictor off, put everything back the way it was, no oil seems to be leaking at the fittings anymore, but it still has a very light oil burn once it has been idleing for 30+ seconds, and then a puff once you rev it a couple times, then it goes away.

My next guess is valve seat, which is just pushing me further towards getting the rebuild process going.

And that is how I wasted an hour.

u dont need a restrictor with a -3 AN feed line. I run this size and have had ZERO smoking problems. i run a 3/4" return line so im in the same boat as u. and yes, u need to make sure everything is tight before u go insane. lol. its always the little things that cause the most frustration...........

Sounds like valve seals to me. It usually puffs more smoke the longer the car sits before starts. The shorter time less smoke. Good luck and I may be pulling my motor out soon to. The freakin boost addiction is getting me real bad and going to the 1/4 didn`t help it any at all.

i don't know about that. i think that some people get lucky and some don't.

my turbo leaked initially with just the straight -3 AN line on it and then i put the 1/16 restrictor on and since then it has run like a champ and no leaks for the most part (none with the turbo anyway). there is a small leak at one of the fittings but some thread locker will solve that problem easily.

if it won't snug up then tap the correct sized hole and use thread locker, or just put some permenant thread locker on the fitting and then force it in really well, but don't over do it because then it'l just strip out and you'll have to get another fitting... after that it won't come out without a fight, but at least it'll stop leaking, hopefully. pressure fittings are weird. a lot of times once their in there you have to leave em alone, or plan on cross threading em or something... i've seen many times that if you take em out, they just don't like to go back in without being forced and then messing up the threads.
