How do you know that one of the carrier bearings are bad and which one? There are two carrier bearings and two pinion bearings.Florida240sx wrote:Any advice?93 5sph 240sx hatch. Mine is bad. How hard to replace and what is needed to do it thanx
Wow!! That's quite a procedure - - just to replace a carrier bearing? I can't imagine how you would set preload on a carrier bearing. I guess I sould just be happy I don't drive a 240...rogoman wrote:How do you know that one of the carrier bearings are bad and which one? There are two carrier bearings and two pinion bearings.
If the bearing(s) are indeed bad, the differential must be removed from the car and taken apart. When new carrier parts are installed, the carrier pre-load must be properly set, tooth pattern checked and back lash properly set; very precision procedure.
