Carpet removal: relatively easy? or not even worth the try?

I have this JDM floor stabilizer bar that I'm going to install and I don't want the brackets that are mounted on the side to show outside of the carpet. So, I want to remove the carpet, the backseat area, and have it so that it's tucked underneath the carpet, and probably cut out the part where the bar will have to exit out of the carpet.

Any ideas or suggestions if I should do this or not?

flol "JDM floorbar". Yeah thse domestic ones are for suckers

Ok now that I have made fun of you I shall redeem myself with an answer to your question

Real simple procedure.reach under the back seat "seat" about in the center of the sitting position, you should feel where a clip from the seat attaches to the floor. Put a hand close to the clip on either side and pull up. do the same on the other side then tilt the seat up and pull it out, discard j/k

remove the sill plates at the bottom of the door openings, a phillips-head screwdriver is all you need.

Now the two back seat trim panels under the quarter windows are just held in place with plastic clips, reach under the bottom and carefully pull them off, one at a time the clips should pop loose. It's just plastic man so take it easy, I have ripped these things, I have a lot of pent-up anger though.

Now the carpet isn't glued down so you can flip it forward and get the bar mounted. tuck the carpet back under and locate the points where the bar will pass through the carpet and cut ot clearance with a razor blade.

re-install the trim and seats.

Just thought I would point out that that bar should have two saddles to bolt it down to the trans tunnel. It may not have one but the nice ones do.happy wrenching

I have never, ever heard of a "floor stablizer bar" in my entire life.

What are the chances that you got ripped off with that?

No. it's a legitamate product. Unibody cars are built so flimsy they give rise to all sorts of braces you can buy to stiffen them up. When I do the R30 resto it's getting a weld-in cage with pipes to stiffen up the unibody instead of this bolt-on band-aid crap.

thanks for the tip.

i bought this for the looks of it. It suits my car decently. If I had wanted something that'll stiff up my chassis, I would've gone with a roll-cage, but I'm not into that. This is mainly for the looks of it... and I had money to burn.

the floor bar is a legit item....the doluck one is really the one to go with though. Its one solid bar, to bad its so dam* expensive. As for roll cages cusco makes nice bolt in roll cages that im sure could be welded up and they are priced fairly cheap for what they are. But who knows has anyone ever tried a custom roll cage?

If I were living stateside I would have a vert with a cage. Think of how sick that would look, drop the top and drive around with the jungle gym exposed.

Cusco doesn't pass SCCA or formula D rules. I guess I will purchase an Autopower cage and weld it in.

If I do put a roll cage in my vert...I could put my tap for my keg on one of the pillars....If I wreck in the vert that roll cage won't help any except maybe knock me out before I splat against the road.
