the more i think about it, the more i want to build a custom one.

Its too bad that the Rogue's rear hatch tapers in at the bottom. You will have to make the drawer a lot narrower than the on in the first picture. You will also loose the utility of all the storage under the rear deck since you would have move the storage case to get to it. The second picture looks more practical for the Rogue.

i am thinking to make it form the rear seat, towards the hatch, but only up to the floor divider

Ive thought about one for sure. But when I checked sites that make/sell them, I found that they are pretty expensive.

God forbid you need your spare tire too...

that spare tire conundrum is also bothering me. i hate the location of it. i might simply put it on the box.

I so wish the spare was on the outside like many SUVs and even many CUVs. On a swing out arm behind the hatch. That would give a lot more interior storage.
