I have been looking for something for the back that will prevent the stuff in the back from sliding around. I looked at the Nissan made Cargo Area Protector. Has anyone used this? Is it good for letting things not slide? Any other suggestions or comments would be welcome.

We have the Nissan cargo area protector. It came with the car in 10/04. Unlike the $170 roof rack cross rails that also mysteriously showed up, I felt were a rip off and I told the dealer to keep, I kept the cargo area protector.

It fits perfectly and does keep things from sliding around. More importantly to me, the carpeting in that part of the car still looks new 4 1/2 years later. I feel it's definitely worth the $ (likely a few bucks more than $70 these days, though).

When I wash the car, I just take the large rubber mat out and wash that too. I recommend it.

I hightly recommend the WeatherTech Cargo Liners. I've been using them for years in my SUVs and they work very well. They are custom cut so they fit perfectly in the cargo area (I also have them on the floor of both my front and back seats). They are a little pricey but will last the life of your vehichle.

Here's a link to where I bought mine.

Does the Nissan one give access the the compartments beneath, or do you have to raise the whole mat up? What about the Weathertech?

With the Weathertech you have to lift the mat up to gain access to the compartments below.

As already mentioned, Nissan's cargo area protector is excellent. I just bought one for my '09, and it has folding seams so you can use the grocery storage unit or either side storage compartments without having to remove the protector. Well engineered.

We have the 2009 Nissan mat, and it does fold along seams so you can get to the storage compartments beneath without lifting the whole mat. It also has cutouts for a couple of mounting points that I think are for child seat safety straps. It works great, and my wife mentioned the other day she likes it because its rubberized surface keeps stuff from sliding around.
