Carfax, worth it?

I know this is a 240 forum but i have been lookin at a 95 bonneville to drive 2 college. It has the bulletproof 3.8 L but for some reason just shuts down and the comp. wont let it start back up. I was wondering if doing a carfax would be worth it to see if I could find the cause of this. or does anyone here have an account that they wouldnt mind doin it for me:)

i dont know if a carfax will tell you whats wrong, unless u live in an area with lots of flooding, id say that if someone will do i tfor you go for it, but dont buy one, unless u have the baller status...

Carfax just gives you a history of where the car has been, smogged passed/failed, lemon, accidents, etc...doesn't tell you what's wrong with the car.

But it may give you a generalization of where the car has been and if it's been taken good care of or not by smog if your state as smog.

You're better off taking it to a mechanic.
