Does anyone here have carfax? Is it very reliable? I need it to do a report on the 240 before I buy it. I will pay whoever does it for me. Thanks, Krystal

Sorry I forgot to search before I posted this. Bear with me I'm new =) J/K!

Oh and here's the VIN #

JN1AS44D1WW107280

I did the free one and it came back with 2 reports but my boss won't let me put his credit card on the internet so I can't buy the reports =(.

Thanks in advance, Krystal

Those are probably just odometer readings. Carfax will find everything it can, then in the basic report it will just tell you the number of things it found trying to get you to pay 20 bucks for a full report...

what year is the car you're looking at? what kind of paperwork do they have on it, if any? mileage? If it's a newer car (97-98) I wouldn't be super worried :)

The only problem with carfax is if you read the fine print you will see that some states arent required to report accidents. And others dont require insurance to tell car fax what has happened to some vehicles. I did a car fax run on a car that i knew had been in multiple accidents here in WA and the report came back clean. So reliability varies from state to state.

ok guys thanks so much. The car is a 98 240 SX SE. Automatic =( I know I know but it was hard enough to find this one as it is. It's got 49,000 miles on it and looks well taken care of. We did notice that there was a dent in the door that got fixed. You can't tell unless you look down the side of the car and even then it's not really that noticeable.

these are the only things show up on the carfax:

looks clean but then again, carfax is limited...

I've found that if you order a carfax report, and only do one or two reports, you can email them, tell them you aren't satisfied and they will refund your money =) Kinda dirty, but hey, it's carfax, and they are kinda sneaky in the first place.

The previous owners of my 95 told me that it had been in a couple of fender benders, but those didn't come up on my carfax report. All that I got was the inspections.
